Surely a baby cannot live without milk and the baby only drinks amniotic fluid?

Answer
Best,
In the womb, the baby is connected to the placenta by the umbilical cord. In the placenta an exchange of nutrition from the mother to the baby takes place. You can compare it with a coma patient who can no longer eat herself, but receives food through an IV. The baby receives everything to live and grow via the umbilical cord: oxygen, food, drink, …
As you say, a baby swallows amniotic fluid and will also produce urine and urinate. The intestines have no work yet before birth.
kind regards,
