Dune Taxi

Through an action-packed video, BMW shows its Dune Taxi for the first time, a fully electric desert racer with 544 hp and 1000 Nm of torque. The Germans seem to want to emphasize the collaboration between the X and M divisions of the brand in the run-up to the arrival of several four-wheel drive electric models.
The body of the colossus, which is made of polymers reinforced with natural fibres, bears strong resemblance to the bodywork of race cars from the Extreme E-series, a desert racing championship for all-electric cars. Still, there is no hint in the video to possible participation in such a racing series. Only the ‘Road to Liwa’, which BMW mentions in the subtitle at the beginning of the video, hints at possible competition intentions. Liwa is a desert dune area of Abu Dhabi where hill climb races are held on unpaved ground.
The Dune Taxi, which shares its design language with the BMW i7 and iX with its ‘flat’ front and rear light units, plays on the images together with several BMW’s X6 M and iX M in the sand and a little later it swings casually at high speed between older generations of X5 that ride on two wheels. After a wild ride, the wildly buzzing sand grab ends the video near a Concept XM. It is also mentioned that BMW will soon come with a completely new M xDrive system, especially for hybrid models. The brand does not reveal further details in the video.
