Citroen has finally pulled the curtain on the e-Jumpy, the fully electric version of the Jumpy that has few technical surprises.
Already in November last year, Citroën showed the first images of a fully electric version of the Jumpy. Although some of the specifications were already released at the time, not everything was known about the car. Today the brand lifts with the double chevron the electric Jumpy on the digital stage and with that it is also known what the practical orderer will be called: e-Jumpy.
Let’s be honest: the e-Jumpy has few surprises. That has nothing to do with the qualities of the car, but more with the fact that Opel has previously presented its version of the electric orderer in the form of the Vivaro-e. Just like its Opel brother, the e-Jumpy always has a 136 hp and 260 Nm strong electric motor that we know from cars such as the electric Opel Corsa-e and Peugeot e-208. Its top speed is adjusted at 130 km / h.
The e-Jumpy will be available with a 50 kWh battery pack and one with a capacity of 75 kWh. The first variant is available for the e-Jumpy in lengths XS (4.6 meters), M (4.95 meters) and XL (5.3 meters). Regardless of which length variant you choose, you must be able to drive 230 kilometers electrically before you have to visit the charging station. The 75 kWh version is reserved for the e-Jumpy in lengths M and XL. These versions come 330 kilometers before they need to be plugged in.
The smallest battery pack can be charged to 80 percent of its capacity in 30 minutes on a 100 kW DC charger. With the version with the 75 kWh battery pack, you have to take 15 minutes longer to do this. The e-Jumpy has an 11 kW 3-phase charger on board as standard.
Just fully loaded
Not unimportant: because the battery pack is located in the bottom of the e-Jumpy, the loading volume is unchanged from that of the already known Jumpies with diesel engine under the hood. The payload is 1,275 kilos, but that’s not all. The practical Citroëns have a braked towing weight of 1,000 kilos, which means that you can still hang a decent trailer behind it. As e-Jumpy, the e-Jumpy has a loading volume of 4.6 cubic meters. This volume can be increased to 5.1 cubic meters by ordering for the optional Moduwork package (folding passenger seat). This creates a maximum loading length of 3.32 meters (XL). The e-Jumpy swallows as M 5.8 cubic meters (with Moduwork) of material, while the loading volume of the L variant is 6.6 cubic meters (with Moduwork).
The electric e-Jumpy will be on the market in the second half of this year. Prices will follow in the run-up to the market introduction. At the end of this year, a fully electric variant of the larger Jumper will strengthen Citroën’s electric commercial vehicle range, followed in 2021 by an electric taste of the Berlingo Van.
