Well electric

The second generation of the Honda NSX waved off earlier this year, but behind the scenes work is probably underway on a successor. A statement from the CEO of Acura offers hope for those who would like to see a new NSX appear.
In 2015, Honda provided a true spectacle by breathing new life into the famous model name NSX. Again it became a flashy supercar with a V6 in the middle, only now with electrical assistance. The latter may have taken some getting used to for NSX enthusiasts, but it was just a prelude to what the next NSX awaits. The next NSX? Yes, in conversation with Nikkei Asia Acura CEO Jon Ikeda declares he would “count on” it coming. That will only be a fully electric supercar.
Although Honda is not the world’s most ambitious player when it comes to electrification, it apparently does not hesitate to combine an iconic name such as NSX with electric drive. This is not entirely out of the blue, however. Earlier this year, Honda announced it was investing €37 billion in electrification, also showing a mysterious supercar hidden under a canvas. As we suspected at the time, that must almost be the new NSX. Ikeda’s words only fuel those rumors further. Incidentally, there was another sporty model on display (photo 2), so it remains to be seen which of the two dries up as an NSX and how the two relate to each other.
