Small but important side note

The electric Fiat 500e is one of the most popular electric cars in Europe. If it is up to Fiat, it will double the production of its small electric success number, but then the brand must have enough microchips available.
With nearly 47,000 units sold between January and July, the Tesla Model Y is Europe’s most popular electric car, followed by the Model 3, which registered some 41,000 units over the same period. The Tesla Model 3 feels the hot breath of the electric Fiat 500e on its neck, the small Italian was good for almost 38,000 registrations in the first seven months of this year and thus managed to claim third place in the ranking of the most popular EVs in Europe. If it is up to Fiat, it will screw up the production of the 500E considerably.
Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares tells Automotive News that there is so much demand for the 500th that Fiat can easily double or even triple production of the model. Tavares does add a caveat to that. An important one too. According to Tavares, the lack of availability of microchips throws a spanner in the works for the potentially very tasty buffet that Fiat wants to serve European consumers. Fiat produced more than 46,000 500e’s in 2021, but according to Tavares, the brand is working hard to almost double that number to 90,000 units this year. However, the CEO indicates that it is not certain whether it will actually reach that production number.
