Faster, higher draw weight

Volkswagen ID4 now also as 4Motion without GTX

There is a new version of the electric Volkswagen ID4: the Volkswagen ID4 Pro 4Motion. This version has four-wheel drive, but not the horsepower and looks of the GTX version.

Anyone who has driven around Volkswagen and EV-loving Scandinavia this summer may have seen it: a large part of the ID4 population is there a GTX. Not surprising, because until now it was the only ID4 with four-wheel drive so handy in cold winters. That is now changing, because Volkswagen is filling the ‘gap’ in the range with the ID4 Pro 4Motion. The ‘Pro’ means that it shares its equipment and battery pack with the well-known 204 hp rear-wheel drive in the range. The difference is an additional electric motor on the front axle. The total power is 195 kW, or 265 hp.

Of course, the 4Motion is slightly heavier than a regular ID4: it weighs 2,221 instead of 2,120 kg. The sprint from 0 to 100 is also considerably smoother, namely in 6.9 instead of 8.5 seconds. You also make a little more of an impression on the autobahn: the ID4 Pro 4Motion has a top speed of 180 instead of 160 km/h.

The Volkswagen ID4 4Motion has a range of 517 km on paper. With this, the damage is not too bad, because the rear-wheel drive comes with 535 km but narrowly further. In addition, there is a higher towing weight. The 4Motion can tow up to 1,200 kg, compared to a maximum of 1,000 kg for other ID4 versions.

The Volkswagen ID4 Pro 4Motion is also coming to the Netherlands, but the importer cannot yet say when exactly that will happen. We also do not know exactly what the car will cost, although it is clear that the starting price will be somewhere between that of the rear-wheel drive Pro (€49,990) and the GTX (€57,290).
