End of an Alpina chapter
It’s over for Alpina’s version of the BMW 7 Series. The BMW breeders stop the production of the Alpina B7, a successor does not seem to be coming.
Recently we were introduced to the updated version of the XB7, Alpina’s variant of the thoroughly facelifted X7. Alpina often comes very shortly after the introduction of a renewed BMW model with a modified or completely new variant of its incarnation of the car in question, but there was no Alpina version of the new BMW 7-series. You no longer have to wait for that. Alpina says it has ceased production of the B7 and immediately indicates that there will no longer be a version with Alpina DNA based on the new 7-series.
The last Alpina B7 based on the facelifted previous BMW 7-series was presented in February 2019. That luxurious and sporty top sedan was based on the 750i and therefore had the same 4.4 V8 as the power plant. In the Alpina B7, however, that machine was not good for 450 hp, but for 608 hp and 800 Nm. Maximum torque was already released at 2,000 rpm.
Incidentally, there is not an Alpina version of every BMW. Alpina offers successively diesel and petrol versions of the 3-series sedan and Touring in the form of the D3 S and B3, and has similar versions of the 4-series Gran Coupé with the D4 S and B4. Then there are the XD3 and XD4, successively Alpinas incarnations of the X3 and X4. Alpina also offers its own versions of the BMW 5-series and 5-series Touring, models that are both called B5. More Alpina fun exists in the form of the already mentioned XB7 and the D8, successively a glorified X7 and 8-series Gran Coupé.
