In the Netherlands, many apps have been launched for mobile parking over the years. Which parking apps are there and what are the differences?
Walking to the parking meter is almost a thing of the past with the parking apps; After all, who would want to make unnecessary meters when you can handle everything via your smartphone? Which parking apps are there? And what are the differences between these parking apps?
Easy and cheaper
Parking with a parking app is easy and always cheaper, because you only pay for the minutes that you actually park. A possible disadvantage is that there are transaction or subscription costs involved in parking. You will also have to determine in advance which app suits you best: every app is different and has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Differences between parking apps
Every parking app that you can use in the Netherlands has its own advantages and disadvantages. One of the most famous parking apps is Yellowbrick. This is also one of the most diverse and easy-to-use parking apps.
- Bee Yellowbrick you pay as standard per parking transaction (0.15 – 0.50 euros or a fixed rate of 0.34 euros), but for 0.75 euros per week you can also take out a subscription where this is not the case. Yellowbrick operates in many cities and you can park in ParkBee’s location, which is not the case with all other apps. On the other hand, Yellowbrick is one of the most expensive parking apps you can use. These costs are slightly lower with the ANWB road app that also allows you to park via Yellowbrick. In this case, registration is free and the fixed transaction costs per parking action decrease from 0.34 euros to 0.30 euros. With a subscription of 0.55 euros per week, there are no transaction costs. If you mainly park for a short time but not regularly, you can opt for the ‘Flexi’ option. You then pay 10% of the parking costs each time you pay with a minimum of 0.15 euros and a maximum of 0.40 euros, but you do not need a subscription.
- Parking is also cheap by default with the app from Parkmobile, where the transaction costs are 0.30 euros and a monthly subscription costs 2.50 euros. This app can also send three different types of push messages to remind you of your active parking session.
- Other apps where the transaction costs are low – in this case at 0.20 euros – are Parksen and TanQyou.
- None of the apps can match the rate of Ease2Pay: this company does not charge any transaction fees at all and is completely free to use. Also with the app from Q-Park you can park on the street without paying transaction fees. And you may already have the app on your smartphone to park by number plate in the parking garages.
- There are also a number of parking apps that are more specialized. Take for example Park-line, a parking app aimed at business drivers. With Park-line you can park in the Netherlands as well as in Belgium and in a large number of parking garages. However, there is a one-time registration fee of 5 euros and monthly costs of 2.50 euros. If you travel often and abroad, then EasyPark a good alternative. This parking app is available in more than 2,000 European cities and it accepts credit cards outside.
- With the app Gaiyo you can use different means of transport. So you can use it for a shared car, shared scooter or shared bicycle (all from different providers), a train ticket (where you immediately receive a 10% discount outside rush hours) and parking. When you park, you pay no transaction costs and no subscription. You do have to fill a wallet. If you do that for less than €30.00, you will pay €0.30 transaction costs.
- the app SME Fuel doesn’t look like a parking app, but you can use it as an entrepreneur or business for parking. You can also refuel, load and make your car shine again at the car wash. Everything will then be added to a monthly invoice that you can also use for VAT. As mentioned: it is a business card and you must state your Chamber of Commerce registration number when applying.
