How can blind people use a computer?

Blind people can also use a PC and the Internet. How does that work?

Answer

Dear Tom,

There are several methods that are usually combined to use the PC as a blind person.
First, a Braille line is used, which usually displays forty characters from the screen in Braille so that the blind person can read the text while feeling.
A second support is screen reading software. This software reads the text from the window that has the focus.
Last and not least is knowing key combinations. A blind person cannot use a mouse, so everything has to be operated with the keyboard. Fortunately, every program has a key combination associated with almost every menu item so that you can also operate it with the keyboard.

Sincerely,
