Third quarter slightly below expectations

Tesla delivered a record number of cars in the third quarter of this year, but is still not completely satisfied. The manufacturer is facing logistical challenges, which means that the delivery of the cars is lagging behind.
Tesla delivered 343,830 cars in the third quarter. Although that is a new record, experts counted on it to be about 358,000 cars. Tesla admits it is less than hoped. The American manufacturer reports in a statement that due to the strong production growth it is an ‘increasing challenge’ to have sufficient transport capacity at reasonable costs. Another factor is the fact that there are ‘logistical peak weeks’. CEO Elon Musk indicated on Twitter that he is aiming for ‘more stable’ deliveries.
Tesla did state that the final figure for deliveries could be slightly higher. The company produced 365,923 cars in the third quarter. The automaker did not break down sales by region. The US and China are the largest markets and the vast majority of sales were in the Model 3 and Model Y.
