As if it were a movie

The always colorful Tesla CEO Elon Musk presented a very special device during the Tesla AI Day. Musk almost single-handedly lifted the Optimus on stage, a humanoid robot that will cost less than $20,000 and of which Tesla plans to produce millions.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk looks a bit like a character from a James Bond film. With Tesla, Musk has built an impressive electric car brand from the ground in a short time and with SpaceX, the billionaire has revolutionized the space industry. Musk is shooting cars to the moon, has had flamethrowers and tequilla on offer and is now ready for the next step: a humanoid robot.
During the Tesla AI Day, Elon Musk introduced the public to the Optimus, a prototype of a android in the form of a human no doubt named after Optimus Prime, a bigwig in the world of Transformer comic books and movies. The Optimus measures about 1.72 meters in height and weighs less than 60 kilos. The robot has a 2.3 kWh battery, so the Optimus should eventually be able to run for a full ‘working day’. The Optimus has, among other things, technology that shows similarities with the hardware and software that Tesla uses for its Autopilot system. The Optimus should eventually be able to move thanks to dozens of small motors, although the prototype cannot run yet. Mechanical hands? On-board.
For the time being, Tesla is working on further developing the Optimus. Ultimately, the thing should cost about $20,000 and Tesla says it can theoretically produce millions of them. When that will happen, however, is not yet clear.
