Eight times five stars

BYD Atto 3 shares in five-star rain Euro NCAP

Vehicle safety tester Euro NCAP shares a series with recent results of ten new cars for the European market. This shows that BYD’s first achievement for the European motorist, the Atto 3, is good for a 5-star rating. The new Mercedes-Benz EQE also stands out in a positive way.

Starting with the first one: the BYD Atto 3. It’s the first car from the Chinese brand to hit the market here. Although some are skeptical about the quality of Chinese products, the Atto 3 seems to be fine when it comes to safety. The car scores well in the crash tests and its rich equipment in terms of active safety systems (emergency braking systems, etc.) works properly. That means that the compact SUV is good for the maximum number of stars.

The Mercedes-Benz EQE also has five stars to its name, although that is not very remarkable for Mercedes: it is the fourth new car from the brand to score five stars this year. In fact, thanks to its well-functioning Active Emergency Stop Assist, a system that brings the car to a safe and complete stop if the car senses that the driver is no longer able to drive the car, the EQE is one of the top scorers on the lists of Euro NCAP. In fact, when it comes to functions that enable partially autonomous driving, the EQE is the absolute top scorer according to NCAP.

Euro NCAP recently assessed eight other models, including the Mazda CX-60, BMW X1 and 2 Series Active Tourer, Seat Ibiza and Arona, Volkswagen Golf, Citroën C5 X and Mobilize Limo. The last two scored four stars, the rest in the row five. Not every model in the list was tested for the first time. Not only new cars, but also cars that, for example, received updated safety systems, more airbags or a facelift, are eligible for a new assessment.
