Just take a look at it
Even with generational changes, the Porsche 911 is never very rigorously overhauled, so with a facelift, the manufacturer works even more subtly. Yet we see some striking changes on and in this Porsche 911 Cabriolet.
Porsche has been working on a facelift for the 911 for some time now. Not surprisingly, it works subtly. For the first time in a long time, a facelifted test sample has surfaced again, this time a Porsche 911 Cabriolet in the US, on which we zoom in a bit to see what changes. At the front, it is especially noticeable that there is still some tape around the air intakes. That is to disguise the fact that the daytime running lights are getting a different place. In addition to the somewhat grown air intakes, to be precise. To date, they are still above the 992 generation of the 911. Although it is not an earth-shattering change, it is nice for the first time in 911 history that vertically oriented units are involved.
At the back you have to grab the magnifying glass a little earlier to see what happens. Although some things are still hidden, we can already see that there will be a completely redesigned rear bumper on the 911. We are cautiously counting on higher and narrower outlets than is currently the case. Furthermore, the license plate moves to a somewhat higher place on the bumper, although that plate is now also higher if the ‘SportDesign Package’ is chosen.
Finally, our photographer captured the interior of the Porsche 911 Cabriolet. There we see something striking: it seems that the instrumentation now consists of one screen. Now the 911 has a physically framed rev counter in the center of the instrumentation, but that seems to be a thing of the past with the facelift.
Porsche is taking its time developing the facelifted 911 and it looks like we won’t see the final result until sometime next year.
