Loyal owners
Fiat is mainly known for its small cars, but if you wanted the largest Fiat after 1977, this is the one: a Fiat 132. This example is quite well preserved, probably partly due to the fact that it has only had three owners so far. has had.
Built in 1977, the Fiat 132 in these photos is one of the first year after the last facelift. During its lifetime (the 132 came on the market in 1972) the model went through two. This is a ‘late’, recognizable by the wheels on which it stands, an optically narrower grille and more plastic on the side and on the bumpers. Fiat produced it in this form from 1977 to 1981, after which the Argenta replaced it. It has been discussed before in this section.
The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine of this 132 produces 111 hp, a power that reaches the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. This made it the second-strongest motorization. At the top of the range, the block received injection, which released more than 10 hp more. This copy spotted by AutoWeek forum user ‘occasionally’ in Eindhoven – for which thanks – seems to still look very good. A look at the owner’s history provides a possible explanation for this. It is an original Dutch car, which was with its first owner from 1977 to 2003. After he or she sold it, the second owner only had it for a few months. The same year, the third and current owner received the keys.
Marcello Gandinic
The current owner is apparently still satisfied with the car after almost 20 years, which from the side shows strong similarities with the first generation of the BMW 5-series (E12). It also came on the market in 1972, although the 132 only really started to show those similarities after its first facelift, in 1974. Then the 132 was fitted with a new C-pillar, with a kind of Hofmeister nod in it. From now on, it also featured a larger ‘grid’, which the E12 5-series also had. Yes, greats like Marcello Gandini – who drew the 132 – sometimes cheated.
