People are getting older, but what is the maximum age?

People are getting older. I would like to know approximately what the limit will be in the future. Some people have even lived to be 115 years old. How old can a person get outwardly if we also look at the extreme age of the organs that we cannot replace. Can a person live to be 150 years old or even older in the future?

Asker: Gijs, 31 years old

Answer

Dear Gijs,

The average life expectancy in our country has increased annually by about 0.2 years for the past decades and continues to increase.
But the maximum age limit is probably the one we find with the current list of “record holders”, namely around 120 years (the record is in the name of Jeanne Calment and is 122 years). These are of course exceptions and it seems to me to be quite a job to get people up to that exceptional age limit in a reasonably healthy way.
Replacing organs is also not that easy, and it is mainly used to help people who have not yet reached the average life expectancy.
