Beyond European nose
Porsche has a rich brand and model history that it is selectively tapping into with this brand new 911 GT3 RS Tribute. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tribute is a tribute to the 911 Carrera RS 2.7, but the European enthusiast is passed by Porsche.
The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is perhaps one of the most famous classic 911s. The variant presented in the early 1970s and then functioning as the topper of the 911 range was characterized from the outside, among other things, with its striking ‘ducktail’-rear spoiler, colored wheels and Carrera stickers, but also on a technical level, the Renn Sport variant was just a bit more extreme. Thanks to the use of plastic and the omission of insulation material, the Carrera RS was lighter, but thanks to the six-cylinder boxer engine drilled to 2.7 liters, it was also more powerful than its less wild brothers and sisters. It is that illustrious Carrera RS 2.7 that Porsche pays tribute to with this 911 GT3 RS Tribute.
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS with Tribute package as you see it in these photos, however, passes the European nose. For the time being, Porsche is only making the package available in the United States for the 911 GT3 RS. What are you missing? A 911 GT3 RS with white paint, Python Green and magnesium wheels, 911 GT3 RS sidewall decals, green side mirror caps, special RS logos and an interior trimmed with green accents. Behind the wheels we see brake calipers in gloss black and opening the door is welcomed by an illuminated ‘Tribute to Carrera RS’ inscription. The 911 GT3 RS with Tribute package immediately gets the hardcore indulgence that Porsche has included in the Weissach package and so the car is overloaded with extra carbon fiber. The car comes hand in hand with a special watch and a scale model of the special 911.
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tribute has the same 525 hp turboless 4.0 six-cylinder boxer engine as the well-known 911 GT3 RS and is of course much more powerful than the car it winks at. After all, the primal RS had a 210 hp powerful 2.7 six-cylinder, good for an impressive 0-100 sprint in less than 6 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. The current 911 GT3 RS hits 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and only allows acceleration at 296 km/h for what it is.
