Look for the differences
In its home country of Japan, Honda is carrying out a facelift on the Jazz called Fit there. The Honda Jazz gets a subtly revised front and a more powerful hybrid powertrain.
The current generation Honda Jazz is simply called Fit again in Japan, just like its predecessors. It is that Honda Fit that has now been subtly updated. Indeed: for now only in Japan, but since the European Jazz e:HEV is technically identical to the version sold in Japan, the renewal round is also interesting for European consumers.
Admittedly: you have to have a good grasp of the Jazz to see the differences between the updated version and the about two-year-old original. The top cooling slot in the Jazz’s front, housed just below the Honda logo, moves up slightly. The result: there is more distance between the license plate and the opening and closer to the headlights. The line that previously ran down from the top of the headlights and connected to the top cooling slot has become a lot less prominent with the side-point session. The Crosstar version retains its larger upper grille, although it is now filled in differently.
As before, Honda supplies the Fit in Japan in flavors such as Basic, Home, Luxe and Crosstar. They all get new bumper work at the front. In addition, the Fit is available in Japan as a brand new and sportier RS with sportier-looking bumpers all around and things like more tightly tuned dampers.
The e:HEV powertrain of the hybrid Honda Fit/Jazz is also interesting. That gets in fact more power and is now 123 hp instead of 109 hp strong. We are aiming for the European Jazz e:HEV to receive the more potent hybrid powertrain in due course. In Japan, Honda does not only supply the Fit as a hybrid. The model is also available with a more conventional 1.5 petrol engine.
