Electric Volvo EX90 has minimalist interior

Volvo has released the first digital plates of the electric SUV that will act as the successor to the XC90 in most markets. What seems? That Volvo EX90 gets a fairly minimalist interior.

The international delivery range of the Volvo XC90 will soon be split up. Volvo is coming with a fully electric EX90 called successor to its largest SUV, but gives the existing XC90 a facelift for markets in which EVs have less priority to extend the life of the model. Volvo is already calling the electric EX90 the safest car the brand has ever made and talked about new sensor technology that not only monitors the environment around the car, but also the driver in the car. Volvo is now again citing the digital gadgets of the EX90, although the image that the brand releases of the interior of the SUV is probably a lot more interesting.

Behind the wheel of the Volvo XC90 you don’t get lost in the physical buttons, but in the EX90 Volvo goes one step further by omitting push buttons. The new SUV will have a very minimalist-looking dashboard in which push buttons seem to shine almost completely due to absence. In the center of the dashboard we see a huge vertically oriented infotainment screen in which the majority of the car’s functions can be controlled. Behind the wheel is a relatively simple-looking flat and wide digital clock shop. A strip in which the ventilation grilles are housed runs across the entire width of the interior and we observe touch-sensitive parts on the steering wheel.

Those control islands on the steering wheel are interesting. We see two icons of a steering wheel on it. That’s part of Ride Pilot, Volvo’s semi-autonomous driving system, although Volvo says the EX90 is ready for a future where you can completely keep your hands off the wheel. Furthermore, Volvo says that it has reserved a spot on the central display in the dashboard where the smart software of the EX90 makes suggestions and proposals based on current conditions.

In the interior of the XC90 you don’t exactly get lost in the push buttons.

Curious about the appearance of the Volvo EX90? So do we, although we have already explained the design of Volvo’s new electric SUV through patent image. We will soon experience how the car dries up in the flesh. The unveiling of the EX90 is planned for November.
