Verstappen takes fourteenth win of the season in Mexico

Max Verstappen has taken his fourteenth victory of the season in Mexico. The highest number of wins ever for a driver in an F1 season. Teammate Sergio Pérez finished third in his home country.

For the fourth time, it was Max Verstappen who outmaneuvered the rest in Mexico. That also happened in 2017, 2018 and 2021. With fourteen victories in this season, Verstappen sets a new F1 record. It must be said that this season is longer than the seasons in which Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel took thirteen victories. Verstappen again drove a dominant race, in which Mercedes did not have enough, despite a safer strategy than Red Bull.

Lewis Hamilton hoped to go for the win, but had to settle for second, well behind Verstappen. Sergio Pérez took third place and, despite undoubtedly a slight disappointment, was still able to provide an enthusiastic home crowd. George Russell, who had started from P2, saw the podium slip out of his hands after a bad first lap. He couldn’t turn that tide later in the race and finished in P4. Behind them came the two Ferraris, quite far behind. Carlos Sainz on P5 and Charles Leclerc on P6. Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) drove an impressive race – despite a collision with Tsunoda – and finished in P7.
