Aprilia RS Extrema: most extreme RS 660

According to Aprilia, it was the best-selling sports bike in Europe, which prompted the Italians to release a special version of the RS 660 before 2023: the RS 660 Extrema, characterized by an exclusive equipment package.

The credit for the great success of the RS 660, sold in 72 countries and currently the best-selling sports bike in Europe, goes to Aprilia’s lucky 660 project, which has interpreted sportiness in an innovative and modern way by not chasing the most horsepower, but to lightweight combined with technical and electronic features usually reserved for premium models.

To add to the sales success of the RS 660 Color, Aprilia now presents the RS 660 Extrema. The name is reminiscent of that of the Aprilia 125 Extrema, one of the best performing and fastest 125cc motorcycles ever, produced from 1992 to 1994.

Thanks to its refined and new standard equipment, the RS 660 Extrema tips the scales with an astonishing dry weight of 166 kg and sets a new bar in the weight/power ratio that is fundamental for fun on the road and effective driving on the track.

This milestone is achieved by the special standard equipment which first and foremost includes a new and lighter SC Project street-legal exhaust system with a carbon fiber muffler on the right side (and thus no longer under the engine).

The Extrema also comes with the black anodized aluminum damper bracket that allows you to remove the pillion passenger footpegs, resulting in an even lighter weight. Also contributing to the overall weight reduction are the front fender and new belly pan with a brand new design, both made from high quality carbon.

The sporty character of the RS 660 Extrema is also emphasized by the cover that replaces the passenger seat to enhance the streamlined design of the rear. The duo seat is also supplied separately. In addition to the standard electronics on the RS 660 (including traction control, cornering ABS, engine braking, engine map and wheelie control – all adjustable) the RS 660 Extrema also has software to reverse the shift pattern.

This means that the gearbox can be configured completely autonomously, without replacing a bicycle part, in street or race version – ideal for track days. The new special white and red livery is clearly sport-inspired and helps to make it recognizable at a glance.
