Electric adventurer

Scout, reborn under the leadership of the Volkswagen Group, hints at its first model. The fully electric SUV is probably still a while away.
The name Scout doesn’t mean much to us in the Netherlands (except for the Boy Scouts), but in the United States it was for years a concept as a model of International Harvester. The Volkswagen Group, which owns the trademark rights, is reviving the Scout and even making it a brand for the American market. Now, six months after those plans were revealed, Scout is already showing his firstborn.
At least, we’re presented with a dim photo of the first Scout’s nose. In that respect, Scout is already following in the teaser footsteps of its parent company. The first Scout appears to have a fairly straight-forward design with fairly sharp corners, according to the manufacturer, strongly inspired by the Scout of yesteryear. On previous sketches (see below), it was also clearly visible that a nice thick retro sauce is poured over the models. Besides an SUV, which we see on this teaser, there is a pickup in the barrel. The two probably get pretty much the same nose.

It is not yet entirely clear when we will see the first Scout and it may still be a study model. A market introduction will logically take at least a year. As of now, there appear to be no plans to market Scout outside of North America.
