Honda ZR-V (Japan)

The run-up to the European introduction of the new Honda ZR-V is a long one. At least we now know more about the hybrid powertrain of Honda’s latest SUV. It is identical to that of the hybrid Civic e:HEV.

Honda has presented an arsenal of models in a short time. In the United States, the brand recently launched the completely new Accord and CR-V and the Pilot, unknown here, was also helped to a new generation. Not long before, Honda conjured up the HR-V for the American consumer. The American HR-V has nothing to do with our HR-V, but it will come to the Netherlands. In 2023, the Japanese will market that new SUV as a ZR-V in Europe. That Honda ZR-V has now been explained in detail for the Japanese market, with the result that we now also know more about the powertrain with which it will be available in the Netherlands.

Honda ZR-V e:HEV

The Honda ZR-V is available in its home country of Japan with a 178 hp and 240 Nm strong 1.5 turbo engine, but you will not find that powertrain in the car in the Netherlands. Honda only introduces hybrid or fully electric models in Europe. We therefore get the hybrid Honda ZR-V e:HEV. The question was whether that car would get the more than 200 hp hybrid powertrain of the latest Honda CR-V, or the slightly less powerful of the Civic e:HEV. It turns out to be the latter.

That means that there is a 2.0 four-cylinder in the muzzle of the Honda ZR-V that generates 141 hp and 182 Nm. The petrol engine works together with two electric motors that bring the system power to 184 hp and 315 Nm. Switching is done with a CVT transmission. In Japan, the hybrid Honda ZR-V e:HEV is available in both front and all-wheel drive.

The Honda ZR-V e:HEV will come to our continent in 2023. The version for Europe has still not been presented in detail.
