First ‘BEV by design’

Peugeot announces its first serious concept car in years. The Peugeot Inception Concept is the first on a new EV platform and also shows a new interior. He will have to wait a while: he will be at the CES in Las Vegas early next year.
The choice for the CES, or Consumer Electronics Show, is remarkable. Peugeot is not active in North America and it doesn’t look like this will change anytime soon. However, CES is the place to be for the latest technological innovations. That undoubtedly says a lot about the new concept car. The Peugeot Inception Concept will be a ‘BEV by design’, or an EV designed as such from the first stroke of the pen. This will therefore be the first EV on a new platform specially developed for that purpose. Undoubtedly one of Stellantis’ new STLA bases.
That is a change of course for Peugeot, which has so far based its electric models on traditionally powered cars. Peugeot therefore describes the Inception as ‘the start of a new era’. This is clearly going to be more than just a design finger exercise. The name fits well with that, because ‘Inception’ means ‘beginning’ or ‘the beginning of something new’.
In addition to new technology and a sleek body, the Inception will soon also show a new interior concept. The existing i-Cockpit set-up is given a fresh look. We will know what that looks like when the curtain goes off the car in ‘Vegas’ on January 5th.
