Logical consequence of price increases

Companies in the automotive sector generated considerably more turnover in the third quarter of this year than in the same quarter last year. This is evident from figures released today by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
Companies in the car industry achieved no less than 24.3 percent more turnover in the third quarter of 2022 than in the same quarter of 2021. Why is that? According to Statistics Netherlands (CBS), the increase in turnover is mainly due to price increases. For example, the average price of a used car is currently at a record high, but there are more factors that played a role.
For example, the intensity of the global chip shortage is declining, with the result that sales of new cars are increasing. There are more and more electric cars among them. EVs are generally more expensive than petrol or diesel cars.
Dutch car importers saw their turnover increase by almost 19 percent in the third quarter of this year. Car repair companies generated almost 13 percent more turnover in the third quarter of 2022, dealers in car parts recorded a turnover increase of 13.7 percent.
