My daughter is now pregnant and appears to have blood group O negative. I, the mother, have a positive and the father has b negative. How can this be explained? I did have an injection for rhesus d with my first child.

Answer

Best,

To answer your daughter’s question, there is no reason to doubt her daddy based on the blood types you provide.
Most likely you have the genotype AO with rhesus +/- and the father BO with rhesus -/-.
Then the combination OO with rhesus -/- is very normal for your daughter.
This fully complies with the laws of heredity!
