Do you weigh less when you first get out of the bath?

If I step on the scale right after I get out of the bath, will I always weigh more than a kilo less than before? How come?

Answer

Best,

That’s odd, unless you still had your clothes on.

Normally you weigh a little more when you get out of the bath, because your skin absorbs water. This will give you wrinkles in your fingers, for example. (too much skin due to the extra moisture)

If you would of course pee in the bath, some grams would be lost, but certainly not a kilo (about 300gr). In the bath you can also sweat a bit and lose moisture as a result. In a very hot bath, this can indeed sometimes go up to 1 kilo.

In theory, it could still be the scale itself, which is in the damp bathroom. The water vapor from your hot bath may be affecting the electronics of your scale. So maybe put it outside the bathroom during your bath.

kind regards,
