Welcome Hozon Neta E
Electric cars come in almost all shapes and sizes. Almost. There are hardly any electric convertibles and sporty coupes can only be found in the absolute top class for the time being. The Chinese Hozon Auto may be responding to this in a smart way with this Neta E.
In the Netherlands you can purchase electric hatchbacks, sedans, liftbacks, SUVs and even commercial vehicles. With the 5 Electric, MG introduced the first electric station wagon in Europe and next year there will be even more to choose from in the electric station segment with the arrival of the Astra Electric and Peugeot e-308. MG will eventually even come with a fully electric open two-seater: the MG Cyberster. Electric coupés are currently only found in the absolute top segment, such as the Rimac Nevera. The Chinese Hozon Auto thinks it has found a gap in the market with a significantly less highly positioned electric coupe.
Hozon Auto Neta E.
AutoWeek has surfaced the first photos of the Neta E, a new electric coupe from the Chinese Hozon Auto, in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology. According to its registration data, the Hozon Neta E is 4.72 meters long, 1.98 meters wide and 1.42 meters low. The wheelbase is a decent 2.77 meters. The Neta E is therefore not small. For comparison: an Alpine A110 with a length of 4.18 meters is more than half a meter shorter. The Neta E shares its wheelbase with the Neta U, an electric crossover from Hozon Auto (photo 5). In terms of size, the Neta E is more comparable to the BMW 4-series Coupé, although it is a few centimeters narrower. Like the 4 Series and unlike the Alpine A110, the Neta E is a four-seater.
The Hozon Neta E is available in China with two different motor configurations. There is a variant with a single 231 hp electric motor and a version with an electric motor with the same power at both the front and rear. Regardless of the chosen version, the top speed of the Neta E, which weighs at least 1,850 kilograms, is 190 km/h.
Hozon Auto also plans to market at least one of its models – the Neta S – in Europe (photo 6). Should Hozon Auto also bring the Neta E to our corner of the world, would you be tempted to purchase such an electric coupe? Why or why not?
