Audi RS7 Sportback Performance and RS6 Avant

Audi recently introduced extra heavy versions of the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback. Those Audi RS6 Avant Performance and RS7 Sportback Performance are also coming to the Netherlands and are certainly not bargains.

An Audi RS6 Avant costs €205,283 from 1 January 2023, an RS7 Sportback can be taken home from €208,150. The Performance versions are even more expensive. Audi asks €213,942 for the Audi RS6 Avant Performance. The keys to the Audi RS7 Sportback Performance are only removed from the safe after transferring €218,808.

What distinguishes the RS6 and RS7 in Performance trim from the ‘regular’ versions? Including extra power. The 4.0 V8, which is normally good for 600 hp and 800 Nm in both models, stamps out 30 hp and 50 Nm more in the Performance editions. So 630 hp and 850 Nm of torque. The extra power comes, among other things, from larger turbos. With their 630 hp, the two Performance models stomp to a speed of 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds. The non-Performance versions take 0.2 seconds longer for the 0-100 sprint. Audi has adjusted the eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission differently, with the result that the gearbox changes gears even more briskly. In addition, the steering of the RS6 and RS7 Performance is more direct and the differential lock is lighter and smaller. Up to 70 percent of the power goes to the front axle, while the rear axle can take up to 85 percent of the forces.

Inside, the Audi RS6 Avant Performance and RS7 Sportback Performance sound even more intense. Audi uses less insulation material, which results in a weight saving of 8 kilos for the two. Audi puts the two Performance models on 21-inch alloy wheels, but also supplies 22-inch large lightweight ones for an extra charge that are five kilograms lighter than the regular 22-inch wheels that you can get under the RSs. If you go for those lightweight wheels, you also get Continental Sport Contact 7 tires that, according to Audi, give the cars a 2-meter shorter braking distance (at 100-0 km/h). The RS Dynamic package, which brings RS-specific four-wheel steering to the RS6 and RS7 Performance, among other things, is standard. Optionally, the RS Dynamics Plus package is available, which increases the top speed from 280 km/h to 305 km/h. The package also includes ceramic brake discs that reduce unsprung weight by 34 kilograms.

From the outside you can recognize the Audi RS6 Avant Performance and RS7 Sportback Performance by, among other things, matte gray exterior parts. For example, the exterior mirrors, front spoiler, roof rails and moldings around the side windows, as well as the diffuser, are finished in matt gray. Incidentally, you can also have these matt gray parts in a combination of black and carbon. The logos are optionally available in chrome or black.
