New Ford Mustang: up to 500 hp!

Stronger than ever

Earlier this year, Ford presented the new seventh-generation Mustang. It was not yet known how powerful the new Ford Mustang will be. Until now! As an early Christmas present, Ford is releasing how powerful the different engine versions of the new ‘Stang are.

In September, we got a digital introduction to what Ford calls the new seventh-generation Mustang. The new Ford Mustang seems more like a thorough development of the previous model, but that does not alter the fact that we are curious about the amount of horsepower and Nm that the model sends to the rear wheels. As expected, there are a lot of them.

The new Ford Mustang only comes to the Netherlands with a V8. The American branch of Ford now reports that the ‘Coyote’ 5.0 V8 in the Mustang GT delivers 486 hp and 567 Nm. At least, if you order the Mustang GT with active valve exhaust system. If you leave that exhaust for what it is, you have to settle for an equally very acceptable 480 hp and 563 Nm. The current Ford Mustang GT with 5.0 V8 kicks it up to 449 hp and 529 Nm.

But that’s not all. The new Ford Mustang also has an extra powerful Dark Horse version and that is also coming to the Netherlands. Just like the Mustang GT, the Ford Mustang Dark Horse will have a 5.0 V8, but one that generates 500 hp and 567 Nm. This makes the Mustang Dark Horse the most powerful Mustang without Shelby interference ever. The eight-cylinder of the Dark Horse has, among other things, a modified crankshaft and reinforced connecting rods. The rev limiter only kicks in at 7,500 rpm.

2.3

Earlier, Ford already cut the 2.3 Ecoboost four-cylinder from the delivery range of the outgoing Ford Mustang. The 2.3 Ecoboost will not return with the arrival of the new Mustang, but in its home country, the United States, the ‘Stang will be available again with a four-cylinder. It is 315 hp and 475 Nm strong. The previous 2.3 kicked it up to 290 hp and 440 Nm. Also a nice difference.

We do not yet have Dutch prices of the new Ford Mustang.
