Audi A6 e-tron: electric next to the A6

It is striking how brands such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have completely different strategies in various areas. Take, for example, the sporty top versions of cars such as the A6, 5-series and E-class. The Audi RS6 is only available as an Avant, the M5 only as a sedan and the E’s 63 AMG are available as both a sedan and a station wagon. The three brands also follow different paths in the EV field. BMW is introducing a fully electric version of the next-generation 5 Series that will be called i5. Although that electric sedan gets a different model name from the 5 series, it is based on that Funfer. With the EQE, Mercedes-Benz has an electric equivalent of the E-class, a car that does not share a nut with the E and that is only available as a liftback. Audi in turn comes with the A6 e-tron, a fully electric alternative to the A6 with combustion engines that is on its own base. The A6 e-tron comes as a sedan and as an Avant! The Audi A6 e-tron can be seen better than ever in this new set of photos.

The Audi A6 e-tron Concept had different rear lights.

The packed Audi A6 e-tron in these photos still hangs fanatically in the camouflage stickers, but unlike previously photographed copies, it is equipped with the final rear lights. They take on a different shape than the taillights that Audi put on the fairly production-ready-looking A6 e-tron Concept. On that study model, the rear lights consisted of flat units built up with LED segments. The taillights on the production version become thicker and taper towards the center of the tailgate. Just like the A6 e-tron Concept, the competitor of the i5 and EQE will have a front with lighting divided over two layers. The LED daytime running lights are at the top, the actual headlights a layer below.

There will also be an Audi A6 Avant e-tron!

Like the upcoming Audi Q6 e-tron (and electric Porsche Macan), the A6 e-tron is on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), a basis developed jointly by Porsche and Audi. That platform enables charging speeds of over 270 kW. The Audi A6 e-tron Concept had two electric motors with a combined 476 hp and 800 Nm and a 100 kWh battery, good for a range of about 700 kilometers. For the definitive Audi A6 e-tron, you can of course also count on milder powertrains. It is also obvious that there will be an extra potent RS version. The entry-level model will have rear-wheel drive and should be able to reach a speed of 100 km / h from standstill in about 7 seconds.
