Anyone who thought that the price increase of second-hand cars had passed its peak is wrong. Never before has a used car been so expensive as in November this year. Autoscout24.nl reports this based on an analysis of the prices of used cars offered on its website.
The average price of a used car on Autoscout24.nl was €24,428 in October. That was an absolute record, but we surpassed it in November. Last month, a used car offered on Autoscout24.nl cost an average of €24,772. That is another 1.4 percent more than in October and almost 12 percent more than in January 2022.
The sales platform makes the disturbing prediction that the average used car price – if the current upward trend continues – will reach €25,000 at the end of this year. ING recently predicted that second-hand prices will no longer increase as much, although that is rather good news for 2023 instead of this year. In recent months, the prices of relatively compact, economical cars in particular have risen sharply.
