Known and new names

Formula 1 hopes to attract new parties with the engine regulations of 2026. There currently seem to be five car manufacturers interested. The sixth, Audi, has already announced its entry in that year.
Last year there was finally a blow to the new engine regulations for Formula 1 that will take effect in 2026. This should make the powertrains simpler and cheaper, while there will be more emphasis on electric propulsion. This combination should also ensure that it becomes more interesting for car manufacturers to participate in Formula 1. For the time being, this seems to be paying off. Audi has already announced that it will enter F1 in 2026. It will then become an engine supplier for the Sauber team, which is still operating under the Alfa Romeo flag. However, there are five other manufacturers considering participation.
Honda, currently still involved in the background with Red Bull and AlphaTauri, wants to return fully and Porsche is also still considering entering the F1 adventure. Well-known names, but there is more to it Auto, Motor and Sports. According to the medium, Hyundai is still at the table in talks about 2026 and Ford is also still present. The first rumors about this came out last fall, Hyundai and Ford are said to be particularly interested in a collaboration with Red Bull.
There’s another name that hasn’t been mentioned yet: Cadillac. That this GM brand is interested is even more remarkable than that Hyundai is considering participation. For both manufacturers it would be a completely new motorsport adventure, but for the American Cadillac the F1 circus, which mainly operates from Europe, is completely a far-from-my-bed show. Moreover, Formula 1 traditionally lives much less in the US than in Europe, although that has changed somewhat since the Netflix series ‘Drive to dare’. It may have to put Cadillac more on the map in Europe and an F1 participation is related to a broader return to Europe.
