KEI-cheerful

Daihatsu will park seven modified Kei cars on its stand at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2023, which will take place from January 13 to 15. Each and every one of them are cheerful city rascals that you will not soon – or rather: never – see on Dutch roads.
If there’s one thing Daihatsu can do like no other, it’s taking cheerful Kei cars to the Tokyo Auto Salon. We have also highlighted them for you in previous years, and this year we will not let you miss them again. Although the brand has been discontinued here for a while, it is still doing business in Japan. And how!
We start with variants of the Tanto, which went under the knife in both Cross and Custom versions. You can guess which of the two (photos 1 to 4) is which. In addition, Daihatsu also presents an alternative to the regular Move Canbus: the – really – ‘Theory Bitter Style +’, which comes with its Minilite-like wheels and roof rack makes it a rough party. Speaking of rough: Kei-car customers who want to take their car into the terrain also get what they want. The Taft ‘Dark Chrome Venture’ and Atrai ‘Wild Ranger’ show their intentions with adhesive plastic or off-road tires.
Prefer the track? Then as a Japanese you can get inspiration from the Copen Clubsports with roll cage and extra sharp edges. If support vehicle you would of course prefer to take an extendable Hijet ‘Jumbo Extend’ with you, were it not for the fact that the models shown are show cars for the time being.
As said, you can admire them at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 in just under two weeks. That is not the only place from where we can provide you with car news in the near future; we also expect novelties at the CES in Las Vegas (from tomorrow) and at the Brussels Motor Show (partly at the same time as the show in Tokyo). So keep an eye on AutoWeek.nl.
And: which of the Daihatsu’s will make your heart melt the fastest?
