No more warnings in autonomous mode?

Tesla FSD further under scrutiny after striking promise Musk

Tesla FSD is under wider scrutiny by the US security watchdog NHTSA after a striking promise from Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The billionaire states that the warnings that the car gives if the driver is not paying attention can disappear in fully autonomous mode.

With the beta version of Tesla FSD (Full Self-Driving), many Teslas in the United States are already driving long distances without active participation from the driver. You have to stay focused and be ready to intervene. The car monitors this and, where necessary, gives a signal if you are ‘too absent’.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk was asked on Twitter whether those warnings could not disappear for people who have already driven at least 16,000 km with FSD on and have a camera in their car (Tesla Vision) that monitors the driver’s condition. Musk then promised that he would comply this month. In theory, such FSD users can therefore expect a car this month that, after an update, is much more liberal in autonomous mode with the driver’s attention to driving.

The NHTSA keeps a close eye on things and sometimes actually intervenes, for example when it turned out that you can play games while driving. The NHTSA would have received this new step by Musk in the FSD story very critically, the American writes Autoblog.com. The watchdog has already asked Musk for clarification and says it will include this development in its broader ongoing investigation into Tesla FSD.

What do you think, should someone who has proven to be able to handle it wisely get less interference from the car?
