With dual light bar and unblown motors?

2023 is the year when we expect the reveal of the facelifted Porsche 911 of the 992 generation: the 992.2, if you will. Spy footage shows that car during its test laps, with slightly less camouflage than before. In addition, the photographer reports that anonymous Porsche employees say that the lightest motorized variants after the facelift have an engine without turbos in their ass. Porsche has not officially announced anything about this yet.

It is not the first time that Porsche’s facelifted 911 – in coupé and convertible form – passes the lens of a spy photographer. Earlier we could already show you a packed Turbo and the less endowed variants did not go unnoticed. The latter are now shaking off some of their camouflage, so that there is now a little more clarity about the upcoming external changes.

We already knew that the exhausts would move to the place of the license plate. The rear light section above it was unchanged on previous spy plates on the Porsche 911. That now seems to have changed. The lower parts of the taillights apparently run further inwards, although they are still wrapped on both sides and we can’t see everything. Porsche may choose to also connect the lower part of the rear lights in the middle of the rear, so that a light bar consisting of two LED strips is created over the entire butt of the car. That would not be a crazy choice in itself, since earlier 911 generations also had a continuous taillight.

Whether the 992-911 à la 964-911 will wear a continuous red bar on its butt?

Will the atmospheric loafer return?

At the front, the facelifted 911 with camouflage also received its final light units, although they are still largely camouflaged. Previously spotted packed copies still had ‘stick-on indicators’. However, due to the degree of camouflage, there’s little to say about how much the new lights will be different.

In the engine compartment of the 911, things are said to be changing during the facelift. For example, the spy photographer indicates that the lightest motorized 911s will have an atmospheric engine again from the update. That would be quite remarkable, because the previous generation 911 (the 991) said goodbye to naturally breathing blocks with its facelift – except for the GT products. Porsche itself has not yet announced anything about upcoming engine changes. Meanwhile, rumors about not only an atmospheric, but also a hybrid powertrain are circulating. More information is expected later this year.
