Requested for over €11 million in 4 days

In just four days, more than 10 percent of the subsidy budget earmarked for the purchase of new electric cars has been used up. Don’t worry, there is still almost €59 million available. This is evident after a dive by AutoWeek in the figures.
From Tuesday 10 January you can again apply for a subsidy for the purchase or lease of a new and used electric car. The total subsidy pot is filled with €99.4 million, of which €67 million is available for the purchase or lease of a new electric car. After four days, €8.25 million has already been requested (12.3 percent). You can receive a contribution of €2,950 on the purchase of a new EV with a catalog value of up to €45,000. Roughly speaking, this means that subsidies have already been applied for for almost 2,800 new cars in four days.
Don’t worry of course. There is still €58.75 million in subsidy budget available for the purchase or lease of a new EV. That amount is large enough for another 19,915 subsidy applications.
SEPP subsidy for second-hand electric car
You can also apply for a SEPP subsidy again this year for the purchase of a used electric car. The original catalog value cannot exceed €45,000. In 2023, a subsidy budget of €32.4 million will be available for the purchase or lease of an electric used vehicle. In four days, €3.05 million was forgiven (9.4 percent), so SEPP subsidies have been applied for for 1,525 second-hand electric cars.
Are you in the market for a used electric car? Even then you don’t have to fear. After all, there is still €29.35 million left in the budget, which means that a purchase subsidy can still be applied for for no less than 14,675 second-hand EVs.
Of the €99.4 million with which the total subsidy pot has been filled this year, €11.3 million has already been applied for in four days. That is – coincidentally – 11.3 percent. There is still a total of €88.1 million SEPP subsidy budget left.
