4.8 percent

Kia had a great year in the Netherlands, but the South Koreans also have reason to smile broadly at European level. Kia took a new personal best in 2022 with their market share in Europe.
The great news for Kia over the past year is not over yet. At the beginning of this month it was already announced that Kia was the largest brand in the Netherlands last year, now there is more good news for the Koreans. It has managed to grab a market share of 4.8 percent in Europe (EU, EFTA and the UK) by 2022. That is a larger market share than ever before. Kia also set a record for 2021, but that is now already out of the books. Then it was a share of 4.3 percent.
There is also a clear upward trend in absolute numbers. In 2020, Kia sold 416,715 cars in Europe, in 2021 there were 502,677 and last year 542,423. So there was a growth of 7.9 percent for the brand in 2022. The best-selling Kia in Europe last year was the Ceed (137,347 units), followed by the Sportage (136,293) and the Niro (80,461). About 31 percent of the models sold were fully electrically powered. Incidentally, the Kia Niro was by far the most popular in the Netherlands; more than a third of the Kias sold here were a Niro.
