Tesla two-time champion

January’s best-selling electric cars

Like Volkswagen, Tesla can also call itself a two-time champion in January. Tesla is the brand that managed to get the most new electric cars on Dutch license plates in the first month of this year. Tesla also owned the most registered EV.

The Tesla Model Y was the most popular electric car in the Netherlands in January this year. At least, Tesla managed to put most copies on license plates. This is evident from figures that AutoWeek has requested from Bovag. Throughout 2022, the Skoda Enyaq iV was the EV with the largest number registered in the Netherlands. That electric SUV did not manage to get a place in the top 5 in January 2023.

The ever-popular electric variants of the XC40 give Volvo a second place. That the Peugeot e-208 are again high in the list is also no surprise. The Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric is an interesting newcomer that entered the top 5 most popular electric cars in January.
