From 2026

Ford officially announces that it will be involved in Formula 1 again from 2026. From that year onwards, it will become the engine partner of the Red Bull and AlphaTauri teams.
The Ford brand will return to Formula 1 from 2026, when the new engine regulations of the royal class will come into force, with a greater emphasis on electrification, combined with the use of 100 percent synthetic fuels. Both offer a good opportunity for engine builders to thoroughly immerse themselves in the new technologies, so that Ford is not the only brand that wants to enter the royal class from 2026.
Several car brands have that intention, but after Audi, Ford is the second brand to confirm its arrival. Ford will collaborate with Red Bull’s Formula 1 team. In recent years, this has been working officially with Honda and even now the Japanese brand – slightly more in the background – is still involved in the powertrain of the cars of Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez and sister team AlphaTauri. In 2026, the baton will pass to Ford, which will then become the official engine partner of the two teams. Red Bull Powertrains builds the engines in the United Kingdom, Ford provides technical support and is allowed to print its logo on the power sources.
Ford is certainly no stranger to the sport. For years, Ford supplied engines through Cosworth for Formula 1 teams, which also had their successes from time to time. In fact, Ford is still the third most successful engine supplier ever. Who knows, many more successes will follow from 2026.
