‘Premature electrification’

Ram has pulled the curtain on the Ram 1500 REV; the electric counterpart of the Ram 1500. The Americans are not showing the electric pick-up completely yet. They also keep the technical information to themselves for a while.
On Sunday it was time again for the famous ‘Super Bowl’. That American Football game is always accompanied by huge advertising offensives. Ram made a splash by revealing the electric Ram 1500 REV and did so in a somewhat unusual commercial about ‘premature electrification’. Not to be confused with an almost eponymous situation in the bedroom… The term is appropriate in itself, as the full presentation of the Ram 1500 REV is planned for later.
We do get a good look at the intended competitor of the Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevrolet Silverado EV and Tesla Cybertruck from the outside. It is clear that the Ram 1500 REV gets quite its own sauce compared to the regular 1500. The proportions are all a bit more conventional than with the concept model. Not surprising, because it seems to be ‘simply’ about the electric version of the regular RAM 1500. There are of course also differences. For example, the REV gets a completely new nose and the rear lights are different. They continue into the tailgate, just like the Ford F-150 Lightning. That Ford already appeared in 2021 and the Silverado EV last year, while the full reveal of the Ram 1500 EV will probably not take place until the end of this year and production will not start until 2024.

Ram 1500 REV.
The Ram 1500 REV may already be on Stellantis’ new STLA Frame base, the new modular STLA platform family intended for large electric pickups and SUVs. It can have quite a bit to offer, if the Ram 1500 REV wants to be able to reply to the aforementioned Chevrolet Silverado and Ford F-150 Lightning. Think of a top model with roughly 600 to 700 electric horsepower, which can pull more than 4 tons. Later this year we will know more and we will also see the interior of the electric pick-up in more detail.
