Ferrari SF-23: ready for the title fight

This year really?

Ferrari SF-23: ready for the title fight

Ferrari unveiled the SF-23 in hometown Maranello in the presence of Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and brand new team boss Fred Vasseur. With this Formula 1 car, Ferrari really hopes to finally win the title again.

There is a lot to say about Ferrari’s performance last year, but the F1-75 (except for reliability) was not a bad car at all in the base. It is therefore not very surprising that Ferrari clearly elaborates on that car with the successor, the SF-23. The sidepods seem to run a little less deep down, but otherwise Ferrari has clearly gone for a Red Bull or Mercedes imitation. The sidepods are still quite wide and there are thick cooling slots on top that are partly sunk into them. The extra outflow opening on top (circled in blue) is striking.

Ferrari will start again this year with drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, but under the leadership of another team boss: Fred Vasseur. The Frenchman has a good track record and knows how to tackle. The latter will be necessary to really get Ferrari back on track for the first constructors’ title since 2008. Especially strategic and organizational blunders got in the way of Ferrari last year. If the SF-23 is reliable and Vasseur can put things right, the Tifosi may have a very good year ahead.
