In the form of the Acura Integra, the Honda Civic that you can buy in the Netherlands has an interesting liftback brother. The Honda Civic is available as a horny Type R and now the Acura Integra also has a spectacular version. It is not called Type R but Type S. This is the Acura Integra Type S.

In the Netherlands, the delivery range of the current Civic is extremely limited. After all, it is only available as a five-door hatchback and, except as a fierce Type R, is available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Elsewhere in the world, the current Civic is also available as a sedan. In China, joint venture GAC Honda supplies the Civic as the Honda Integra, which is available as a hatchback and a sedan. In the United States, Honda’s luxury brand Acura supplies a Civic-related five-door liftback that also listens to the Integra name. An extremely sporty version of this has now been presented: the Type S.

Just like the Civic Type R, the Acura Integra Type S has a blown 2.0 VTEC under the hood. Where that power source in the Honda Civic Type R is good for 330 hp and 420 Nm, the 2.0 in the Integra Type S delivers 324 hp and 420 Nm. Those powers find their way to the front wheels via a manual six-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential. From the outside, the Integra Type S immediately betrays its sporty nature with its attached bumper and spoiler work, its large 19-inch wheels with extra powerful Brembo brakes behind it and the set of three exhaust pipes housed centrally under the buttocks. Furthermore, the grille is a lot larger than that of the less horny Integras. In the United States, the Type S can be fitted with a carbon fiber front lip and rear spoiler and ditto lightweight side mirror caps at an additional cost. The flared wheel arches make the Type S more than 7 centimeters wider than a regular Acura Integra. Of course, the Integra Type S has a thoroughly modified chassis with adaptive dampers and a modified steering system.
