With Apple Pay you can pay both offline and online with your Apple device. Recently it is also possible to pay with a credit card, if your bank supports this. In this article, we’ll show you how to add a credit card to Apple Pay.
Step-by-step plan: Add credit card to Apple Pay
Are you a customer of Rabobank or ING and do you have a credit card? Then you can add this card to Apple Pay, the iPhone maker’s payment service. The biggest advantage of this is that you can now pay in stores with your iPhone or Apple Watch. Thanks to Apple Pay, you do not need to carry a physical debit card. This is how you add the credit card:
- To start
Have your credit card ready and open the Wallet app on your iPhone;
- Link in the Wallet app
Add the card by tapping the plus sign in the top right corner. Then select your bank (ING or Rabobank) and indicate that you want to add a credit card;
- Grab your credit card
Then put your credit card on the table and point your iPhone camera so that it falls into the frames. The payment information is now automatically read. Doesn’t this work? Then tap ‘Enter map info manually’ at the bottom;
- For security
You will then need to provide your card’s three-digit security code to prove that you are the rightful owner;
- Complete
Accept all Apple Pay terms and conditions and confirm the link via your bank’s app. You should now see the credit card in the overview of the Wallet app and you can use it to pay.
These banks are (not) participating
For the time being, you can only add credit cards from ING and Rabobank to Apple Pay. Are you with another bank? Then there is no other option than to be patient. Most banks have indicated that they will add credit card support in due course, but often communicate without a clear deadline. These banks do not (yet) support credit cards in Apple Pay:
- ABN Amro
- Bunq
- SNS
- Triodos
- Knab
