Adrian Newey stays with Red Bull, Verstappen ‘very happy’

Actually, Christian Horner already revealed it earlier, but this week it was announced that the chief designer has actually signed for a longer period at Red Bull. Max Verstappen is very happy with the news, which could have a major impact on his further career.

Last month, Christian Horner stated firmly that Adrian Newey will stay with the team for ‘years to come’. This has now also been contractually agreed, Red Bull F1 CEO Helmut Marko stated this week. Important news for Max Verstappen, who has a contract with Red Bull until 2028 and therefore hoped to benefit from Newey’s skills for a long time to come. After all, Newey has been considered perhaps the most talented designer in the sport for decades and his track record shows that. This year, under his watchful eye, another car has been built that puts the competition at a disadvantage.

Max Verstappen tells the assembled media in the press conference in Miami that he is very happy that it is now done. “Obviously I’m very happy that Adrian is staying. Anyway, that goes for everyone in the team. I mean, if you perform well, you want to keep that group together.” It remains to be seen whether the latter will also succeed. Of course there are always privateers off the coast with a team that performs so well. “That is of course the goal for the team for the future,” said Verstappen. Incidentally, there is a good chance that Adrian Newey will never go to another team. After all, he is already 64 and Helmut Marko declares to Auto Bild that he is pretty sure that Newey will retire from Red Bull.
