The Chinese company Aiways is bringing a new concept car to the Geneva Salon. The U6 Ion Concept looks ahead to a new electric coupe SUV from the brand, which is on the same basis as the already known U5 Ion.
Aiways hopes to gain a foothold in Europe with its fully electrical offering. This spring the Chinese will settle here, with the U5 Ion as the flagship. The man responsible for Aiways’ European affairs, Alexander Klose, already indicated last summer that the Netherlands is one of the three countries where Aiways will be the first to try. The brand focuses on an ambitious sale of 10,000 cars in the first year. To further fuel things up, it is presenting the brand new U6 in Geneva, which will undoubtedly follow the U5 soon.
The U6 stands on the same modular basis developed entirely by Aiways as the U5, but is characterized primarily by a more clearly drawn coupé carriage. Of course, this should also be a little higher in the market than the U5. To give you an idea of what we can expect from the U6 in terms of performance, we take a look at that of the U5. It has a 65 kWh battery pack and is estimated to be good for a range of around 400 km (WLTP). For the time being, € 35,000 is mentioned as a target price, but time will tell how accurate that is. In Geneva we see at least the U6 and we probably hear more about the plans of the brand.
