Alfa Romeo 155 (1993) – Enthusiast Wanted

There are always enthusiasts for Alfa Romeo’s. This 155 will probably not be waiting very long for a new owner, but we would like to bring it to your attention.

After all, the Alfa Romeo 155 has almost completely disappeared from the Dutch streets and that is why we love to come across such a neat copy in our used car finder. It betrays its age, of course, with the angular shapes, and yet the 155 was a car in its time that attracted quite a bit of admiration with its lines. Perhaps not as much as its successor, the 156, but the Italians had managed to turn it into something stylish. In black it is also a classy appearance, with the small wheels as a subtle hint that it is a modest version.

We are dealing here with a 155 with the eight-valve 1.7 Twin Spark engine under the hood. The slip-on. The more modern sixteen-valves made the 155 a much smoother car, so you have to be able to live with the fact that it doesn’t have much to offer. Incidentally, ‘not so much’ is relative, because with its 116 hp power, it is really not a slow device. 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 11.8 seconds and the top is 191 km/h. That was very fine for its time. Moreover, it is not exactly frugal in the interior, despite the fact that this copy was low in the 155 ranking. For example, you have electric windows at the front, half leather seats, a partly wooden steering wheel and gear lever.

The advertiser reports that a lot has been done technically to the 155 recently. The biggest is the head gasket that has been replaced. Two new ignition coils have also been fitted, the rear part of the exhaust has been replaced and the 155 has been given a new radiator. A selection from an even longer list, which you will find in the advertisement. Not a luxury either: this block had a timing chain, so you don’t have to worry about a belt that needs to be replaced. According to the supplier, the extensive list of maintenance work has ensured that the 155, which already has just over 2 tons behind it, is ready for more. Because quite a bit of money has been invested in it and the 155 is quite rare, people ask €3,445 for it. That seems reasonable given the love that the car has received. Who lets his heart speak and strikes his blow?
