Alfa Romeo is bringing back the GT Junior name. However, Alfa Romeo does not stick Junior GT on a new classically lined coupé, but on the opposite of that. The Stelvio.
In its home country of Italy, Alfa Romeo pays tribute to the classic GT 1300 Junior that came on the market in 1966. Alfa Romeo currently does not have a coupé in the range of which it can call a special edition GT Junior and so it is the Stelvio that the brand will carry a GT Junior.
Of course, the Stelvio GT Junior does not have an 89 hp 1.3 as powerplant like the GT 1300 Junior, but a 210 hp 2.2 diesel engine that is linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Stelvio GT Junior is based on the Veloce version but is always finished in the color Ocher Pilari, a color that you could also get on the real 1300 GT Junior. Alfa Romeo parks the special Stelvio on 21-inch five-hole light metal, gives it, among other things, black mirror caps, dark rear side windows and special Junior GT embroidery on the dashboard and on the headrests.
The Stelvio GT Junior costs €72,750 in Italy. As far as we know, the special edition is only intended for the Italian market.
Could Alfa Romeo have done more of this? Let us know in the comments.
