6C?
Alfa Romeo presents an exclusive supercar this summer. August 30 to be exact. It is the previously announced spiritual successor to the 8C.
Just under a year ago, Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato announced that an exclusive sports car of the brand is coming, filling the gap left by the 8C Competizione 13 years ago. Originally it was intended that there would be both a new GTV and an 8C successor, now it seems to remain with one sporty top model for the time being. In China, Alfa Romeo announces during a brand presentation that the curtain will go down on August 30 of the as yet unnamed newcomer.
From the above teaser plate, which we tracked down through the Italian branch of Engine1, is not much to make yet, but fortunately it is not the first teaser of Alfa’s new sporty flagship. At the beginning of this year, the Italians also showed a mysterious picture, on which, with some imagination, both an ‘e’ and ‘6C’ could be discerned. Would the newcomer then be called 6C? Big chance. Whether it is right that we could also see an ‘e’ in it is highly questionable. The newcomer is said to have nothing to do with electrification and is the very last purely fuel-engined sports coupe from Alfa Romeo.
That still leaves the question of which six-cylinder will be in it, because Alfa Romeo of course has the well-known 2.9-liter biturbo V6 on its shelves, but we may be dealing with a real Alfa Romeo cousin of the Maserati MC20 here. . Then it would be the 3.0 biturbo ‘Nettuno’ V6. As you can see, a lot is still uncertain, but count on a very exclusive roughly 600 hp strong two-seater that will unleash the tongues. The most important questions will have been answered in less than two months.
