Welcome to the vacuum

The Bulgarian Alieno is making itself heard again. About four years after the presentation of its first Arcanum, which never appeared on the road, the company is introducing its second car: the Unum. The Unum is – you guessed it – all electric, super strong, bloody fast and possibly not real at all.
Rewind to 2018, when we first heard of Alieno. It is a Bulgaria-based company that, with the Arcanum, presented a hypercar overloaded with Lamborghini details with a 5,221 hp powertrain. Thanks to – and these are the words of Alieno – ‘extraterrestrial technology from the future’, the colossus had to be able to reach a top speed of about 490 km/h. We are now four years later and before we have ever seen an Arcanum in real life, here is the second model: the Unum.
The Unum is, uhm, just as wacky as its predecessor. The car resembles an unofficially licensed digital incarnation of a Lamborghini from a computer game. It is richly provided with extreme spoilers, edges, flips and flaps. The Alieno Unum comes as The Heavenly Founder (THF) and as The Rocket Successor (TRS). Both versions exist on paper as RP5, RP4, RP3 and RP2. Those letters stand for Raw Power, the number indicates the positioning of the drivetrain. The RP2 has 3 together 2,610 hp and 4,440 Nm strong electric motors and that is also the weakest of the bunch. The RP3 makes it to 3,481 hp and 5,920 Nm, the RP4 is 4,351 hp strong and the top model has RP5 thanks to six ( !) electric motors with a system power of 5,221 hp and 8,880 Nm.
Each RP in turn must be released as STR (Street), TRC (Track) and RCE (Race). These versions differ in particular in the field of aerodynamics. The fastest variant should be able to reach a top speed of 585 km/h. Alieno also speaks of 800v on-board voltage and 180-kWh, 120-kWh and 60-kWh batteries.
Enjoy the spoiler work of your more than 5,000 hp hypercar on Mars.
The difference between the Unum The Heavenly Founder (THF) and the The Rocket Successor (TRS)? Well, the TRS version has a Octopus Synergy System on board, a bizarre name for a system that, according to Alieno, consists of a kind of rocket motors that push gas stored under high pressure into the air and have to steer the car when cornering and can also assist in emergencies.
This sounds like sheer automotive nonsense, but Alieno claims to actually build the Unum. The THF as RP2 costs €1.8 million, the crazy RP5 variant changes hands from €2.7 million. The TRS variants – with ‘rocket engines’ – cost €3 million to €4.5 million depending on the RP version chosen. The Arcanum is €200,000 cheaper across the board, because it can also be ordered. Said Alieno. To reinforce the company’s credibility, Alieno presents us with a series of computer drawings in which the car can be seen in all kinds of environments, with or without correct proportions or perspectives. The best pictures show the car in action at Spa-Francorchamps (photo 1) and on Mars (?, photo 2). However, Alieno has registered the design of the Unum with the European patent office, so perhaps we are dealing with more than a loose bag.
