It’s going fast

The very last subsidy pot that was filled with euros to encourage the purchase of a used electric car is half empty. And that well before the calendar indicates half of the year. This is evident from an analysis of the figures from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) by AutoWeek.
It is now a well-known fact that the subsidy pot to encourage the purchase of a second-hand electric car runs out considerably faster than the pot that was created to make the purchase of new electric cars more attractive. Less than three weeks ago – on March 28 – 39 percent of the subsidy pot for used EVs had been used. This is now only the case for 48 percent. Of the subsidy pot initially filled with €29.4 million, €14.15 million has been allocated. You can expect a compensation of €2,000 on a second-hand electric car with an original list value of up to €45,000. This means that a subsidy has been applied for for 7,075 electric used cars. There is still €15.25 million (52 percent) left, good for another 7,625 applications.
At the beginning of this year, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency also lifted the lid on a subsidy pot containing euros intended to make the purchase of a new electric car with a maximum list value of 45 grand more attractive. Not even a quarter of that has been forgiven yet. €13.68 million has been spent (24 percent). You can receive a compensation of €2,950 on the purchase of a new EV. This means that a budget has been requested for 4,637 new electric cars. There is still €44.32 million (76 percent) available, good for more than 15,000 new applications.
A total of €87.4 million in SEPP subsidy budget is available this year. A total of €27.83 million in subsidies has been requested, meaning 32 percent of the total subsidy pot has been awarded. A total of 11,712 new or used EVs have been requested for a subsidy. The majority of these are electric used cars.
It was recently announced that 2024 is the last year in which you can apply for a purchase subsidy for a second-hand electric car. After 2024 – earlier than planned – this subsidy will be over and over. The SEPP subsidy for new electric cars will continue to exist.
